Assam
- in 1963 Nagaland was carved out of it.
- Jan 21st 1972 Meghalaya was carved out of it.
- Mizoram was also a part of Asaam earlier.
- Mizoram was a Union Territory untill Jan 21st 1972.
- In 1987 Mizoram was declared a state.
- Highest rain fall 178-305 cm.
- Biggest river Brahmaputra.
- Tourist Place : Kaziranga National Park.
- 15.6% of world's and 50% of India's Tea production.
- First state where Oil was struck.
- It was struck at Digboi
- Assam also produces natural gas.
